KOTA KINABALU, 3 July 2025 – FH Cinema has announced the commencement of a selection phase to re-evaluate all short films uploaded to its digital platform since its inception. This initiative is part of a content restructuring and rebranding effort, in line with FH Cinema’s vision to curate a collection of high-quality, marketable short films.
According to the official statement, a total of 88 short films have been received, and only 20 of the best will be selected to move forward into FH Cinema’s 2025 Featured Phase, which includes paid viewing distribution, sponsorship programmes, and viewership-based royalty incentives.
“This step is taken to ensure that only films with strong narrative and technical potential are given exclusive promotional and monetisation opportunities,” said FH Cinema’s management.
The main objectives of this phase are to:
- Realign content to match digital market standards
- Offer fair rewards to filmmakers through a structured royalty system
- Provide expanded promotional opportunities for Sabah-made films at higher levels
The selected films will be relisted on FH Cinema starting August 2025, and included in the Official FH Cinema Collection for the year. These films will also be part of exclusive package promotions, special screenings, and awards eligibility based on viewership numbers.
Films not selected during this phase will be kept in the backend system and will not be publicly displayed until improvements are made. These titles may still be submitted again in the next selection cycle.
Submissions Still Open for New Entries
FH Cinema also announced that filmmakers who have not submitted previously are welcome to participate in this selection phase by submitting new short films.
Submission deadline: 31 July 2025

FH Cinema, operated by F Harmthon Production Sdn Bhd, is Sabah’s first digital platform allowing filmmakers to legally sell films and music through a paid streaming model. The platform also offers a structured royalty and incentive system for active and consistent creators — with viewership reach extending across Malaysia, Asia, and Europe.
“We believe this effort will pave the way for local filmmakers to take their work more seriously, and for FH Cinema to become the leading digital marketplace for Sabah’s creative industry,” said the management.
